Our History

We begin by honoring our rich history, tracing back to when Larry G. Baker and Michael D. Shinault founded our firm in 1986. Both Larry and Michael earned their Business and Public Administration degrees from California State University, Bakersfield, in 1977. With nearly a decade of post-graduate experience at other accounting firms, they joined forces to create Shinault Baker & Company.

Partners

• Larry Baker, CPA: With his extensive experience in auditing departments, Larry Baker has an exceptional ability to manage a firm the size of Shinault Baker & Company. Larry holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business and Public Administration from California State University, Bakersfield.
• Daniel P. Gutierrez, CPA, MST: Daniel P. Gutierrez joined our firm in 2013 and has since become a Partner. With over 13+ years of experience in public accounting, Daniel specializes in business taxation, general accounting for various business entities, and oil and gas accounting. Prior to joining our firm, Daniel served in the United States Army, where he completed a tour of duty in Iraq.
• Marcela Farfan, CPA: Marcela Farfan completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern California in 2000. Marcela has worked in public accounting since 2001 and earned her CPA license in 2011. She specializes in individual tax preparation, financial planning, and estate planning.
