Burks' Bookkeeping & Tax Service has been a trusted provider of quality and affordable tax preparation services on the peninsula since 1967. Our team is led by Jerry Burks, the Chief Executive Officer, who graduated from Virginia Tech in 1966 with a Bachelor in Science in Accounting. Jerry has been an IRS Registered Tax Return Preparer since 2012 and is now mostly retired, but continues to serve as the nonprofit return specialist for the firm. Stephanie Burks-Sarris, the Chief Financial Officer, has been with the firm since 1986 and has a BA in History from CNU. She became a tax preparer in 1988 and passed the IRS Registered Tax Return Preparer exam in 2012. Stephanie has been the Office Manager since 1998 and is the firm's Trust and Estate tax specialist.

Jennifer Sunders, the Chief Operating Officer, has been with the firm since April 1996 and handles the payroll processing. She is a member of the American Payroll Association and the firm's Payroll Manager. Jennifer also does bookkeeping and tax preparation, including gift tax returns. Jim Sarris, our Technical & IT Services / Admin, handles the IT department, computer security, and document management and security for the firm.
